DETALJEN.

RAGNAROCK Museum in Roskilde opened in April 2016 and is Denmarks national, cultural historic present time museum with a focus on pop, rock and youth culture.
The museum communicates the evolution of youth culture – told through the sound, pictures and symbold of rock and pop. It dives into how young generations have moved boundaries through music and how they affected the society fx through new ways of dance, consumerism, political stands, expressions of style, use of music players and new technologies – and so much more.
It is about US when we listen to music, dance, fight and create and worship idols.
RAGNAROCK is a part of the museum organisation ROMU
In Norse mythology Ragnarok is the tale of the final battle between Gods and giants wherein the sun is put out and the end of the world is effectuated in an inferno of fire and chaos. But only to be reborn.
Therefore, Ragnarok is also the tale of the rebirthing of the world. Ragnarok describes a new beginning and through this also mirrors the rebirth of the Western World following WWll. Following the war a new generational term is given life and is manifested. A generation of Youth that is now facing before unseen possibilities and attention and who demands to have a say in societal matters and the evolution of society in general – through ending old systems and creating new.
